Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer. 3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 40), and then remove the following components: a. Service door (see Service door on page 41) b. mSATA SSD (see mSATA SSD on page 42) c. Hard drive (see Hard drive on page 45) d. Base enclosure (see Base enclosure on page 52) e. Display assembly (see Display assembly on page 54) f. Fan (see Fan on page 62) g. System board (see System board on page 63) h. Heat sink (see Heat sink on page 69) Remove the processor: 1. Use a flat-bladed screw driver (1) to turn the processor locking screw (2) one-half turn counterclockwise, until you hear a click. Component replacement procedures 75
