Description Heat sink for use in models with 4th generation Intel processors Heat sink for use in models with 6th generation Intel processors and UMA graphics Heat sink for use in models with 6th generation Intel processors and discrete graphics Spare part number 765737-001 830398-001 830399-001 Before removing the heat sink, follow these steps: 1. Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer. 3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 28), and then remove the following components: a. Service cover (see WLAN module on page 29) b. Hard drive (see Hard drive on page 31) c. Base enclosure (see Base enclosure on page 38) d. Display assembly (see Display assembly on page 41) e. Fan (see Fan on page 50) f. System board (see System board on page 51) Remove the heat sink: 1. Turn the system board upside down, with the front toward you. 2. Following the 1 through 4 sequence stamped into the heat sink, loosen the four Phillips PM2.0×11.0 captive screws (1) that secure the heat sink to the system board. Before removing the heat sink, follow these steps:
1.

the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is

Remove the heat sink:
1.
Turn the system board upside down, with the front toward you.
2.
Following the 1 through 4 sequence stamped into the heat sink, loosen the four Phillips PM2.0×11.0
captive screws
(1)
that secure the heat sink to the system board.
