Test results All of the testing passed respective criteria and proved proper functionality of the Gigabit technology in a Microsoft cluster with 500m length for the heartbeat link in both Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000 operating environments. The tested configurations are shown in Figures 2 and 3. The monitor client is included in the diagrams to show how it was connected in the Gigabit topology for the Windows 2000 configuration to fulfill the Microsoft HCT test configuration requirements. In the Windows NT 4.0 configurations, the monitor client did not participate in the heartbeat link. The cluster interconnect and public network were totally isolated by using separate VLANs configured on HP ProCurve 8000M Ethernet Switches. In addition to a monitor client, the public part of the network contained a domain controller and eight clients as required for Microsoft HCT testing. All public and private network cards and associated Ethernet switch ports were configured to use 100Mbps, at full duplex link speed. Public network components are not shown to simplify the diagrams.
