NOTE: Windows Server 2012 no longer supports Storage Manager for SANs. The Storage Manager for SANs snap-in for MMC has been removed. Downloading the MSA 2040 VDS Hardware Provider 1. To download the MSA 2040 VDS Hardware Provider software bundle navigate to http://www.hp.com/go/support. 2. Click Drivers and Software. 3. Click See All. 4. Click Storage. 5. Click Disk Storage Systems. 6. Click MSA Storage. 7. Click HP MSA Storage. 8. Select your product. 9. Select your operating system. 10. Click Driver - Storage Controller 11. Download the MSA 2040 CAPI Proxy and MSA 2040 VDS Hardware Provider that is appropriate for your operating system. NOTE: If you plan on also installing the MSA 2040 VSS Hardware Provider, you can download it now as well rather than following these download steps in the next chapter. Installing the MSA 2040 CAPI Proxy This section describes how to install the MSA 2040 CAPI Proxy. Install the downloaded software in the following order, as described below: • MSA 2040 CAPI Proxy • MSA 2040 VDS Hardware Provider • MSA 2040 VSS Hardware Provider The MSA 2040 CAPI Proxy is a prerequisite for VDS and for VSS. Install the MSA 2040 CAPI Proxy as shown: 1. Run the executable downloaded from the HP website to begin the installation. 2. Follow the onscreen prompts to install the software. On 32-bit operating systems, the program is installed in: C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\HardwareProviders\MSA2040\CAPI On 64-bit operating systems, the program is installed in: C:\Program Files(x86)\Hewlett-Packard\HardwareProviders\MSA2040\CAPI If a previous version of the MSA 2040 CAPI Proxy is already installed, you are prompted to either overwrite the existing MSA 2040 CAPI Proxy by selecting Continue, or to exit the installation by selecting Abort. Installing the MSA 2040 VDS Hardware Provider This section describes how to install the MSA 2040 VDS Hardware Provider. 1. Downloading the MSA 2040 VDS Hardware Provider

your operating system.
NOTE:
If you plan on also installing the MSA 2040 VSS Hardware Provider, you can download it now as
well rather than following these download steps in the next chapter.
Installing the MSA 2040 CAPI Proxy
This section describes how to install the MSA 2040 CAPI Proxy.
Install the downloaded software in the following order, as described below:

MSA 2040 CAPI Proxy
•
MSA 2040 VDS Hardware Provider
•
MSA 2040 VSS Hardware Provider
The MSA 2040 CAPI Proxy is a prerequisite for VDS and for VSS.
Install the MSA 2040 CAPI Proxy as shown:
1.
Run the executable downloaded from the HP website to begin the installation.
2.
Follow the onscreen prompts to install the software.
On 32-bit operating systems, the program is installed in:
C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\HardwareProviders\MSA2040\CAPI
On 64-bit operating systems, the program is installed in:
C:\Program Files(x86)\Hewlett-Packard\HardwareProviders\MSA2040\CAPI
If a previous version of the MSA 2040 CAPI Proxy is already installed, you are prompted to either
overwrite the existing MSA 2040 CAPI Proxy by selecting Continue, or to exit the installation by selecting
Abort.
