System board NOTE: All system board spare part kits include a processor and replacement thermal material. Description System board for use in models with discrete graphics: ● Equipped with an Intel Core i7-8550U processor and 4 GB of discrete graphics memory ● Equipped with an Intel Core i5-8250U processor and 2 GB of discrete graphics memory System board for use in models with UMA graphics: ● Equipped with an Intel Core i7-8550U processor ● Equipped with an Intel Core i5-8250U processor and an HD camera ● Equipped with an Intel Core i5-8250U processor and an IR camera ● Equipped with an Intel Core i3-8130U processor ● Equipped with an Intel Pentium 4415U processor Spare part number L20842-xx1 L20841-xx1 L28780-xx1 L20844-xx1 L20846-xx1 L20847-xx1 L20845-xx1 Before removing the system board, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet, and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the bottom cover (see Bottom cover on page 27). 5. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 29). When replacing the system board, be sure to remove the following components from the defective system board and install them on the replacement system board: ● WLAN module (see WLAN module on page 32) ● Solid-state drive (see Solid-state drive on page 30) or Optane memorhy module (see Optane memory module on page 31) ● Fan/heat sink assembly (see Fan/heat sink assembly on page 51) ● Memory modules (see Memory module on page 36) Remove the system board: 1. Disconnect the following cables from the system board: (1): Audio/power button board cable (2): TouchPad cable (3): Keyboard cable (4): Backlight cable (5): Hard drive cable 46 Chapter 5 Removal and replacement procedures
