HD DVD discs and Blu-ray Disc HD DVD is a high-density disc format designed for the storage of large amounts of data and highdefinition video. The HD DVD disc is designed to be the next generation of the standard DVD. The capacity for an HD DVD is 15 gigabytes (GB) for single layer and 30 GB for dual layer, abut three times the capacity of a standard DVD.
