1 Overview This chapter contains a general overview of the UPS, including an introduction to the model configuration, power management software, available hardware options, and warranties. Read this chapter to become familiar with the features of the UPS before installing the unit. UPS Features The following features make this UPS versatile and easy to use: • Two serial communications ports • Five independent load segments (including three 16 A IEC-320 receptacles and 12 10 A IEC-320 receptacles) • Front panel controls and LCD display for easy configuration, monitoring, and operation • Expanded support for power management software • Support for HP Extended Runtime Modules (ERMs) • Support for HP Power Distribution Units (PDUs) • Support for hardware option cards that extend the power management capabilities of the UPS - Multi-Server UPS Card - Scalable UPS Card - SNMP-EN Adapter • Support for Remote Emergency Power Off (REPO) Communications Ports The UPS includes two communications ports (Port 1 and Port 2) that allow data exchange with host computers. CAUTION: Use only the DE9 cables supplied by HP to connect the communications port to the host computer. Use of standard RS-232 cables may cause equipment damage. Communications Ports
