Physical Planning Considerations 1 Two Director 2/64s 2 HP Ethernet hub 3 HAFM server (laptop or rack mount) 4 Remote user workstation Figure 48: Typical network configuration (one Ethernet connection) ■ Part of a second HAFM server interface that connects to the customer's private intranet and allows operation of the HAFM and Product Manager applications from remote user PCs or workstations. Connection to this LAN segment is optional and depends on customer requirements. This type of network configuration using both Ethernet connections is shown in Figure 49 on page 127. Director 2/64s are used as an example. Although this dual Ethernet connection is supported by HP, it is not OV-SNM compatible, requires installation of an additional PCMCIA LAN adapter card (not supplied by HP), and is not the recommended configuration for a typical new HP installation at a customer site. 126 SAN High Availability Planning Guide
