1 Backup any data on the array that you wish to keep. You may also want to record the LUN structure on the array. You will need to recreate it after formatting the array. 2 Perform the steps in "Upgrading Array Controller DIMMs" on page 135, removing or replacing DIMMs as required. The cache must be reduced on both controllers.. After powering on the array, continue with the following steps. 3 Check the status of the array. It should indicate No Maps. 4 Format the array using CommandView SDM or the VFP. 5 Recreate the original LUN structure on the array. 6 Reload any backed up data. Upgrading Array Controller Firmware (HP Service Personnel Only) Caution To prevent data loss, it is recommended that a full backup be performed before starting this procedure. Note When downloading controller firmware, always check the README file included with the firmware. (If you have access, you can also read the HP Service Note associated with the firmware download.) This information will identify whether you can perform the firmware download offline or online. 1 Download new firmware to an active array controller using CommandView SDM. See "Upgrading Array Controller Firmware" in the on-line Help. The download process copies the new firmware to the other array controller automatically. Note When firmware microcode is fully downloaded, the array controller suspends I/Os for about 10 seconds, then switches to the new code. Upgrading Link Controller Card Firmware (HP Service Personnel Only) Caution To prevent data loss, it is recommended that a full backup be performed before starting this procedure.
