1 Overview Product overview HP StorageWorks 9100 Extreme Data Storage System (HP ExDS9100 Storage System) is a scalable network attached storage (NAS) product. HP ExDS9100 Storage System features HP ExDS9100 Storage System has the following features: • Network Filesystem (NFS) and http support • Capable of running user applications • Full CLI capability • Capable of managing very large amounts of data with very few resources • Scalable to very large systems • Blade-based system for simplified infrastructure and ease of expansion • Dual redundant paths to all storage components • Capable of gigabytes-per-second of throughput • Performance and capacity management tools HP ExDS9100 Storage System components HP ExDS9100 Storage System includes the following components: • HP ExDS9100 performance chassis (c-Class blade enclosure, server blades, and blade infrastructure) • Redundant SAS switch pair in the blade enclosure • Storage block (array) (minimum of one) comprised of: • 9100c (array controller chassis and 12 disk drives) • 9100cx (dense JBOD with 70 disk drives) • Software for manageability, clustered filesystem, and file serving IMPORTANT: All software that is included with the HP ExDS9100 is for the sole purpose of operating the system. Do not add, remove, or change any software unless instructed to do so by HP authorized personnel. A minimum HP ExDS9100 base cabinet comprises one HP ExDS9100c (in slot 3), two blades, and the HP ExDS 9100cx (in slot 8).
