If Firmware Upgrade Appears to Fail The hub management menus and Boot menu require a serial interface through the RS-232 port of the hub. Symptom Cause/Solution - During firmware upgrade, the following message appears every 1 minute and 45 seconds: Hub-Controller version: 03.06 is now loaded into RAM - After firmware upgrade, 'Hub Controller Version"and "Status of Hub Controller self-test"are blank on Main menu. - All port LEDs are off. - The hub is inoperable. The hub device agent code and hub controller firmware are not compatible. Incompatibility can occur when: - The device agent code was installed in the incorrect order. - Firmware transfer was interrupted during the update procedure. - Only one firmware file was updated. The hub controller firmware must be updated before updating the hub device code. Both files must be updated. Reinstall the prior version of the firmware as described in the following section. Then follow the update procedures provided in Updating the Hub Firmware on page 48. The terminal screen does not display a prompt. The serial port is not connected. Verify that the serial cable is connected to the correct ports. The cable is not a null-modem cable. Verify that the cable connected to the RS-232 port is a null-modem cable. The terminal or terminal emulator is not configured correctly. Verify that the terminal or terminal emulator is configured as described on page 46. "pROBE+>"appears instead of the Main menu. If Firmware Upgrade Appears to Fail
The hub management menus and Boot menu require a serial interface through the RS-232
port of the hub.
Symptom
Cause/Solution
During firmware upgrade, the
following message appears
every 1 minute and 45 seconds:
Hub-Controller version:
03.06 is now loaded
into RAM
After firmware upgrade, ‘Hub
Controller Version”and “Status
of Hub Controller self-test”are
blank on Main menu.
All
port LEDs are off.
The hub is inoperable.
The hub device agent code and hub controller firmware are
not compatible. Incompatibility can occur when:
The device agent code was installed in the incorrect
order.
Firmware transfer was interrupted during the update
procedure.
Only one firmware file was updated.
The hub controller firmware must be updated
before
updating the hub device code.
Both
files must be updated.
Reinstall the prior version of the firmware as described in
