English 13. How to select tightening torque and rotational speed CAUTION ⅷ The selection examples shown in Table 6 should be considered as general standard. As different types of tightening screws and different materials to be tightened are used in actual works proper adjustments are naturally necessary. Driving Drilling Use Machine screw Wood screw Wood Metal Table 6 Rotating speed selection (Position of the shift knob) Clutch dial position LOW (Low speed) HIGH (High speed) 1 - 22 For 4 mm or smaller diameter screws. (DS18DSAL) For 38 mm or smaller diameters. (DS18DSAL) For 24 mm or smaller diameters. (DS14DSAL) For 18 mm or smaller diameters. (DS14DSAL) For drilling with a metal working drill bit. NOTE: The use of the battery BSL1415X and BSL1815X in a cold condition (below 0 degree Centigrade) can sometimes result in the weakened tightening torque and reduced amount of work. This, however, is a temporary phenomenon, and returns to normal when the battery warms up. CAUTION ⅷ While operating the cordless driver drill, take care not to lock the motor. If the motor is locked, immediately turn the power off. If the motor is locked for a while, the motor or battery will be burnt. ⅷ Do not tighten too strongly as the screw heads will be damaged. 16
