4. TROUBLESHOOTING If a minor problem occurs, it usually can be solved quite easily when the cause is found by using the checklist below. Any other servicing should be done by an authorized service representative. ! WARNING ! To reduce risk of personal injury - unplug cleaner before servicing. PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE POSSIBLE SOLUTION Cleaner won't run Power cord not firmly plugged into outlet. Blown fuse or tripped breaker. Needs service. Thermal protector activated. Plug unit in firmly. Check fuse or breaker in home. Replace fuse/ reset breaker in home. Take to service center. To find nearest location, visit our website at www.hoover.com or call 1-800-944-9200. Allow cleaner to cool for 30 minutes (this will reset the thermal protector). The Performance Dirt cup not installed Indicator is red or correctly. the cleaner won't pick up or low suction Dirt cup full. Brushroll worn. Broken or worn belt. Review dirt cup removal & replacement. Empty dirt cup. Replace brushroll. Replace belt. Clogged filter. Remove filter and clean Nozzle/brushroll clogged. Check nozzle/brushroll; remove obstruction/clog. Dust escaping from cleaner Hose clogged. Dirt cup full. Dirt cup not installed correctly. Hose not installed correctly. Remove hose; remove clog. Empty dirt cup. Review dirt cup removal & replacement. Review hose installation. Filter not installed completely. Review filter removal and replacement. 12
