26 IBM Rack Console Switch Installation and User's Guide The status of the servers in the system is indicated in the right columns of the Main window. The following table describes the status symbols. Table 3.2: OSCAR interface status symbols Symbol Description The CO or console switch cable is online (green circle). The CO or console switch cable is offline or is not operating properly (red X). The server is tiered through a rack console switch. The server and the rack console switch are online and have power (two small green circles topped by a slightly larger green circle). The server is tiered through a rack console switch. The server and the rack console switch are offline or have no power (two small black circles topped by a red X). CO firmware is being upgraded (yellow circle). The CO or console switch cable is being accessed by the indicated user channel (green channel letter A or B). Access to the CO or console switch cable is blocked by the indicated user channel (black channel letter). For instance, in Figure 3.2, user B is viewing Forester, but is blocking access to Acton, Barrett, and Edie, which are connected to the same rack console switch (black channel letter A or B). NOTE: A status flag displays on the desktop and shows the name or eID of the selected server or the status of the selected port. For how the status flag can be configured, see "Configuring the status flag" on page 35. Selecting a server NOTE: When you select a server, the rack console switch reconfigures the keyboard and mouse to the proper settings for that server. 1. Access the OSCAR interface Main window. If needed, see "Accessing the rack console switch" on page 23. NOTE: To clear all connected offline console switch cables or COs from the list, click Clear. 2. Do one of the following to select a server on the Main window. • Double-click the server name, eID, or port number. -or• If the display order of the server list is by port (the Port button is selected), type the port number and press Enter.
