Supported operating systems and software This section lists the operating systems on which IBM Director Server, IBM Director Console, IBM Director Agent, and IBM Director Core Services are supported. Also, the workgroup and enterprise systems-management software supported by IBM Director as well as IBM Director product limitations and performance considerations are discussed. Operating systems supported by IBM Director 5.20.3 IBM Director 5.20.3 provides support for many operating systems. However, support varies depending on the selected hardware and IBM Director component. This release of IBM Director is available only for System x systems, IBM and third-party x86-based systems. It can be downloaded from the Web. See the installation instructions for each operating-system environment for information about the file that can be downloaded from the Web. Operating systems supported for Level-0 management Unless stated otherwise, IBM Director provides Level-0 support for all operating systems that are supported for installation of IBM Director Server, IBM Director Console, IBM Director Agent, and IBM Director Core Services. Operating systems supported for Enhanced Level-0 management IBM Director provides support for the following Enhanced Level-0 managed systems: v VMware ESX Server 3i (Embedded and Installable editions) (supports Update 3 and earlier) Operating systems supported for installation of IBM Director Server, IBM Director Console, IBM Director Agent, and IBM Director Core Services When preparing to install IBM Director, consider the following information: v IBM Director Server and IBM Director Console can be installed on non-IBM hardware as long as the system meets the hardware requirements for running that component. v IBM Director support for Intel Itanium systems is provided by IBM Director Agent version 5.10.3. There is no IBM Director Agent version 5.20.2 for Intel Itanium systems. IBM Director Agent for Intel Itanium systems is available as a Web-download only. This section lists the operating systems on which IBM Director Server, IBM
Director Console, IBM Director Agent, and IBM Director Core Services are
supported. Also, the workgroup and enterprise systems-management software
supported by IBM Director as well as IBM Director product limitations and

Operating systems supported by IBM Director 5.20.3
IBM Director 5.20.3 provides support for many operating systems. However,
support varies depending on the selected hardware and IBM Director component.
This release of IBM Director is available only for System x systems, IBM and
third-party x86-based systems. It can be downloaded from the Web.
See the installation instructions for each operating-system environment for
information about the file that can be downloaded from the Web.
Operating systems supported for Level-0 management
Unless stated otherwise, IBM Director provides Level-0 support for all operating
systems that are supported for installation of IBM Director Server, IBM Director
Console, IBM Director Agent, and IBM Director Core Services.
Operating systems supported for Enhanced Level-0 management
IBM Director provides support for the following Enhanced Level-0 managed
systems:

VMware ESX Server 3i (Embedded and Installable editions) (supports Update 3
and earlier)
Operating systems supported for installation of IBM Director
Server, IBM Director Console, IBM Director Agent, and IBM
Director Core Services
When preparing to install IBM Director, consider the following information:

IBM Director support for Intel Itanium systems is provided by IBM Director
Agent version 5.10.3. There is no IBM Director Agent version 5.20.2 for Intel
Itanium systems. IBM Director Agent for Intel Itanium systems is available as a
Web-download only. Download the dir5.10.3_agent_windows64.zip or
dir5.10.3_agent_linux64.zip file, as needed, from the IBM Director Web site at
www.ibm.com/systems/management/director/downloads.html.
