6 SPEAKER MICROPHONE ■ Optional HM-184 description ■ To attach 1 Microphone Speaker Attach the connector of the speaker-microphone into the 2 multi connector on the transceiver and tighten the screw with 3 a coin or flat head screwdriver. 4 PTT SWITCH Push and hold to transmit; release to receive. Turn the transceiver power OFF while connecting the HM-184. Belt clip NEVER immerse the connector in water. If the connector becomes wet, be sure to dry it BEFORE attaching it to the transceiver. 5 Screw 6 7 Coin 8 CAUTION: Attach the 9 multi connector properly, but do not overtighten. 10 A loose connection will al- 11 low water intrusion into the connector; an overtight- 12 ened connection will dam- age the connector pins in 13 the transceiver. 14 NOTE: The microphone is located as shown in the diagram above. To maximize the readability of your transmitted signal (voice), hold the microphone approx. 5 to 10 cm (2 to 4 inches) from your mouth, and speak in a normal voice level. 15 IMPORTANT: KEEP the connector cover attached to the transceiver when the speaker-microphone is not in use. 16 (p. 3) Water will not get into the transceiver even if the cover is not attached; however, the terminals (pins) will become rusty, or the transceiver will function abnormally if the con- nector gets wet. 22

NOTE:
The microphone is located as shown in the diagram
