8. Close the front and rear latches. 9. Install the rear access cover. 10. Turn on power to the add-in board using the PCI hot-plug application software on your system. Removing a Hot-Plug PCI Add-In Board To remove a hot-plug PCI add-in board: 1. Remove the rear access cover (page 29). If the LED for the slot indicates that power to the slot is on, turn it off by using the PCI hot-plug application software on your system (Refer to the "EXPRESS BUILDER CD 3.091 A-N" (36301632-000) The LED adjacent to the slot should now be flashing. 2. Release the latches on the front and rear retention mechanisms (Figure 31, A and B). 4. Grasp the board at both corners, pull it out of the slot connector, and carefully slide it out of the retention mechanisms. Store the board in an antistatic protective wrapper. 5. If you are not reinstalling a board in the same slot, install an expansion slot cover and install the rear access cover. If you are installing a new board, follow the instructions on page 59. 60

Install the rear access cover.
10. Turn on power to the add-in board using the PCI hot-plug application software on your system.
Removing a Hot-Plug PCI Add-In Board
To remove a hot-plug PCI add-in board:
1.
Remove the rear access cover (page 29).
If the LED for the slot indicates that power to the slot is on, turn it off by using the PCI hot-plug
application software on your system (Refer to the “EXPRESS BUILDER CD 3.091 A-N” (363-
01632-000)
The LED adjacent to the slot should now be flashing.
2.
Disconnect any cables attached to the board you are removing.

Release the latches on the front and rear retention mechanisms (Figure 31, A and B).
4.
Grasp the board at both corners, pull it out of the slot connector, and carefully slide it out of the
retention mechanisms.
Store the board in an antistatic protective wrapper.
5.
If you are not reinstalling a board in the same slot, install an expansion slot cover and install the
rear access cover.
If you are installing a new board, follow the instructions on page 59.
