This manual contains important safety and operating instructions for the Model AE38 vehicle power adapter. 2 Before using the power adapter, read all instructions and cautionary markings on the power adapter, the battery, and the product using the battery. 3 CAUTION: To reduce risk of injury, use with only Intermec Model PB2/PB3 or PR2/PR3. Use of this product with other devices may cause injury to persons and damage. 4 Do not expose power adapter to rain, moisture, or snow. 5 Use of an attachment not recommended or sold by Intermec may result in a risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons. 6 To reduce risk of damage to power adapter connector and cord, pull by power adapter connector rather than cord when disconnecting power adapter. 7 Make sure that cord is located so that it will not be stepped on, tripped over, or otherwise subjected to damage or stress. 8 Do not operate the power adapter with a damaged cord or power adapter connector - replace it immediately. 9 Do not operate power adapter if it has received a sharp blow, been dropped or otherwise damaged in any way; take it to a qualified service person. 10 Do not disassemble power adapter; take it to a qualified service person when service or repair is required. Incorrect reassembly may result in a risk of electric shock or fire. 11 To reduce risk of electric shock, unplug power adapter before attempting any maintenance or cleaning. 12 Internal voltage regulation within the PB2/PB3 limits the voltage supplied to charge the Model 318-040-001 Li-ion battery. Internal voltage regulation within the PR2/PR3 limits the voltage supplied to charge the Model 1013AB01 or 1013AB02 Li-ion battery. The use of any other type of battery in the PB2/PB3 or PR2/PR3 while charging may burst causing personal injury and damage. Do not charge batteries in a modified or damaged PB2/PB3 or PR2/PR3, doing so may result in risk of battery explosion or fire. 3
