8 WHEELS 8.10 Adjusting Caster Height 1. Place the wheelchair on a flat surface. 2. Remove the headtube cap. 3. Remove the locknut that secures the fork to the wheelchair frame. 4. Perform one of the following: A. Installing washer/spacers - Perform the following: Locknut Caster Housing i. Remove washer/spacer from fork stem. ii. Remove fork stem from caster headtube. iii. Install the washer/spacer onto the fork stem. iv. Install the fork stem through the headtube. v. Loosely secure the fork stem with the locknut. B. Removing washer/spacers - Perform the following: i. Remove fork stem from caster headtube. ii. Remove the washer/spacer from the fork stem. iii. Install the fork stem through the headtube. iv. Install the washer/spacer onto the fork stem. v. Loosely secure the fork stem with the locknut. Washers (Shown) or Spacers (Not Shown) "L" Square Fork Stem NOTE: Headtube cap not shown for clarity. C. Position a large right triangle or "L" square on the flat surface and against the caster headtube that is welded to the wheelchair frame. 6. Adjust the height of the casters by either adding or removing washers/spacers on top of the fork stem until the wheelchair frame is parallel with the floor. 7. Reinstall the locknut and head tube cap onto the wheelchair. 8. Repeat this procedure for the opposite front caster. Invacare® A-4® Wheelchair 72 Part No 1110545

Adjusting Caster Height
1.
Place the wheelchair on a flat surface.
2.
Remove the headtube cap.
3.
Remove the locknut that secures the fork to the wheelchair frame.
4.
Perform one of the following:
A.
Installing washer/spacers - Perform the following:
i.
Remove washer/spacer from fork stem.
ii.
Remove fork stem from caster headtube.
iii.
Install the washer/spacer onto the fork stem.
iv.
Install the fork stem through the headtube.
v.
Loosely secure the fork stem with the locknut.
B.
Removing washer/spacers - Perform the following:
i.
Remove fork stem from caster headtube.
ii.
Remove the washer/spacer from the fork stem.
iii.
Install the fork stem through the headtube.
iv.
Install the washer/spacer onto the fork stem.
v.
Loosely secure the fork stem with the locknut.
C.
No spacer adjustment necessary - Proceed to step 5.

5.
Position a large right triangle or "L" square on the flat surface and against the caster headtube that is welded to the wheelchair frame.
6.
Adjust the height of the casters by either adding or removing washers/spacers on top of the fork stem until the wheelchair frame is parallel with
the floor.
7.
Reinstall the locknut and head tube cap onto the wheelchair.
8.
Repeat this procedure for the opposite front caster.
