Manual Recording Manual recording mode enables you to set the focus and screen brightness etc. manually. Changing the Shutter Speed A fast shutter speed can freeze the motion of a fast-moving subject, and a slow shutter speed can blur the subject to give the impression of motion. 1 Set the program AE dial to "S". M 16:9 1/60 2 Select the desired setting.  mode: 1/2 to 1/4000  mode: 1/2 to 1/500* The smaller the value, the faster the shutter speed. * 1/2 to 1/250 when using the flash. - To cancel the shutter speed setting Set the program AE dial to  (auto recording mode). NOTE It is recommended to use the tripod (p. 18) when recording with a slow shutter speed. Aperture Priority Setting You can add a blurring effect to the background by setting the aperture value (F-number). 1 Set the program AE dial to "A". M F3.5 2 Select the desired setting.  mode: F3.5 to F16  mode: F3.5 to F6.3 The lower the F-number (larger aperture value), the more blurred the background will become. The higher the F-number (smaller aperture value), the clearer the focus will be for both near and far objects. - To cancel the aperture priority setting Set the program AE dial to  (auto recording mode). NOTE If the image is too bright, set to a larger F-number. If the image is too dark, set to a smaller F-number. 24
