English Listening to FM and AM Broadcasts Tuning in a Station 1 Press TUNER. TUNER The unit automatically turns on, and tunes in the previously tuned station (either FM or AM). • Each time you press the button, the band alternates between FM and AM. 2 Press and hold UP ¢ or DOWN 4 for more than 1 second. When using the remote control, press and hold 4 or ¢ for more than 1 second. The unit starts searching for stations and stops when a station of sufficient signal strength is tuned in. If a program is broadcast in stereo, the STEREO indicator lights up. To stop during searching, press UP ¢ /DOWN 4 (4/¢). When you press UP ¢ /DOWN 4 (4 /¢) briefly and repeatedly The frequency changes step by step. To change the FM reception mode When an FM stereo broadcast is hard to receive or noisy, press FM MODE on the remote control so that the MONO indicator lights up on the display. Reception improves. To restore the stereo effect, press FM MODE again so that the MONO indicator goes off. In this stereo mode, you can hear stereo sounds when a program is broadcast in stereo. Presetting Stations You can preset 15 FM and 15 AM stations. To preset stations automatically 1 Press TUNER to select the TUNER band, FM or AM. 2 Press TUNING PRESET for more than 2 seconds. The unit scans the selected band, and stores the first 15 stations in memory automatically. The 15 stations are given the preset numbers from P-1 to P15, starting from the station with the lowest frequency. To preset the desired stations manually 1 Press TUNER to select the TUNER band, FM or AM. 2 Tune in the station you want to preset. • See "Tuning in a Station" above. 3 Press and hold the desired number button on the remote control until the preset number starts blinking on the display. Ex.: For preset number 5, press and hold 5. For preset number 12, press +10 and then press and hold 2. 4 Repeat the procedure above for other stations you want to preset, using a different preset number. When a new station is stored The previous stored station is erased. (The frequency of the new station replaces the previous frequency in memory.) - 11 -
