BEFOREOPERATING:ENTIRESYSTEMMUSTBEFILLEDWITHWATERANDAIRPURGEDFROMALLLINES. A. Thisappliancedoesnothavea pilot. It isequippedwith an ignitiion device which automatically lights the burner. Do no.ti try to light the burner by hand. B. BEFOREOPERATINGsmell all aroundthe appliance areafor gas. Be sureto smellnextto the floorbecause somegas is heavierthanair andwill settleon the floor, WHAT TO DO IF YOU SMELL GAS: • Do not try to light any appliance. • Do not touch any electric switch; do not use any phone in your building. • Immediatelycallyourgassupplierfroma neighbor's phone. Follow the gas supplier's instructions. • If you cannot reach your gas supplier, call the fire department. C. Use only your hand to push in the gas control but- tons. Never use tools. If the control buttonswill not push in, don't try to repair them, call a qualifiedservice technician. Force or attempted repair may result in a fire or explosion. D. Do not use this appliance if any part has been under water. Immediately contact a qualified installer or service agency to replace a flooded water heater. Do not attempt to repair the unit. Set the thermostat to the lowest settinq bv first pressing the COOLER _ and HOTTER"_ but- tons together and holding-for 1 second. Ther_press the COOLER button (_ until the Warm indicator light appears. 4. Set the ON/OFF switch on the control box to the "OFF" position. 5. This appliance is equipped with a device which automatically lights the burner. DO NOT TRY TO LIGHT THE BURNER BY HAND. 6. Wait five (5) minutes to _ clear out any gas. If you then smell gas_STOP! Follow "B" in the safety information above on this label. If you don't smell gas, go to the next step. 7. Turn on all electrical power to the appliance. 8. Set the ON/OFF switch on the control box to the "ON" postition. 9. Set the thermostat to the desired setting bv first pressing the COOLER (-,,) and HOTTER _ buttons together and holding-for1 second. Then press the HOTTER button (_) 10.WATER TEMPERATURE ADJUSTMENT Vis approximately 120°R _ AUTION: Hotter water increases the risk of scald injury. Consult the instruction manual before changing temperature. 11.If the appliance will not operate, follow the instructions "TO TURN OFF GAS TO APPLIANCE" and call your technician or gas supplier. _ POAWRENRINGB:EFTOURRNE OSEFRFVAICLILNGE.LECTRIC 1.
