To assign a function unavailable using the front panel keys: 1 Press [MNU] to enter Menu mode. 2 Select Menu No. 16 (Microphone). CALL VOL SQL 3 Press [s], then select Item No. 2 (PF 1) to No. 5 (PF 4). CALL VOL SQL 2 1 4 Press [SET] to select the desired function. • Each time you press [SET], the selection changes as shown below: User Setting ➞ Monitor ➞ Enter ➞ Voice ➞ PWR switch (PF 1 only) ➞ 1750 Hz Tone (TM-V7E only) 5 Press [MNU] again to exit Menu mode. User Setting: Selects the front panel key function you assigned 1 {page 72}. 2 Monitor: Makes the squelch open and allows you to monitor activity 3 on the current frequency. This function is useful when adjusting the volume or when receiving weak signals. 4 • Pressing the re-programmed Mic key toggles Monitor ON or 5 OFF. 6 • Scan will not function if Monitor is ON (squelch open). 7 Enter: Allows you to enter digits from the MC-53DM microphone. 8 Refer to "KEYPAD DIRECT ENTRY" {page 74}. 9 Voice: Activates or deactivates the function that announces the 10 current Control band frequency using beeps of different 11 frequencies. Press any key to stop beeps. 12 (POWER) switch: Turns the transceiver ON or OFF. This function can be 13 assigned only to PF 1. 14 1750 Hz Tone (TM-V7E only): After releasing the re-programmed Mic key with Transmit 15 Hold ON, the transceiver remains in the transmit mode for 16 2 seconds; a 1750 Hz tone is not continuously transmitted for 2 seconds. A 1750 Hz tone is continuously transmitted 17 only while the re-programmed Mic key is being held. 18 • You can also use Transmit Hold to continuously send a 1750 Hz tone for 2 seconds after releasing the 19 re-programmed Mic key. To activate this function, access item No. 3 (1750 Hz Timer) in Menu No. 5 (Repeater). 20 21 73
