Replacing a memory module To replace a memory module, do the following: 1. Turn off the computer; then disconnect the ac power adapter and all cables from the computer. Wait three to five minutes to let the computer cool. 2. Close the computer display, and turn it over. 3. Remove the battery. See "Replacing the battery" on page 63. 4. Loosen the screws 1 , and then remove the cover 2 . 5. If two memory modules are already in the memory slots, press out on the latches on both edges of the socket at the same time 1 , and then remove a memory module 2 to make room for the new one. Save the removed memory module for future use. 6. Find the notch on the contact edge side of the memory module you are installing. Attention: To avoid damaging the memory module, do not touch its contact edge. Chapter 6. Replacing devices 81
