Remove all external media from the drives and turn off all attached devices and the server. Then, disconnect all power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the server. 2. Prepare your server. Locate the BIOS recovery jumper on the system board. See "System board jumpers" on page 32. Then, remove any parts and disconnect any cables that might impede your access to the jumper. Note: Do not remove the memory modules or microprocessors. 5. Remove the jumper cap from the jumper cap storage. See "System board jumpers" on page 32. 6. Note the orientation of the jumper cap and then install the jumper cap on the BIOS recovery jumper. 7. Connect the server to an ac power source. The server turns on and then turns off automatically. 8. Move the jumper cap back to the jumper cap storage. See "System board jumpers" on page 32. 9. Wait for several minutes. When the BIOS recovery process is completed, the server turns on automatically. 10. Ensure that the Setup Utility program starts normally. See "Starting the Setup Utility program" on page 39. This is achieved by combining multiple hard disk drives into a logical unit, where data is distributed across the drives in one of several ways called RAID levels. When a group of independent physical hard disk drives are set up to use RAID technology, they are in a RAID array. This array distributes data across multiple hard disk drives, but the array appears to the host server as one single storage unit. Using the BIOS recovery jumper
