Settings Menu item Purpose Values and descriptions Dial Prefix A numeric entry field is provided to enter numbers. The previously entered numbers are shown. The dial prefix could be a country code or a code businesses use to dial an outside line. Number string The entry field is limited to 16 characters. Automatic Redial Specifies the number of times the MFP automatically tries to send the fax job again by resubmitting the Fax To number. 0-9 (5*) Redial Frequency Select a range in minutes for the 1-200 (3*) number of redials to occur in that time span. Enable ECM Enables Error Correction Mode for fax Yes* jobs, which makes faxing more reliable. No ECM is enabled. ECM is disabled. Enable Fax Scans Allows sending faxes by scanning at On* the MFP. To set to Off, clear the check box. Background Adjusts the amount of background Removal visible on a copy. -4 to +4 (0*) -4 sets Background Removal to off. +4 sets Background Removal to the maximum allowed. Contrast Specifies the contrast used for the 0-5 scan job. The default is dependent on the Content menu item. If the Content menu item is reset from the default setting, then the default for Contrast is reset also. Text default is 5. The default is 0 for items other than text. 55
