Only eightdigit numeric data can be used with this code. EAN-8 supports a supplemental two- or fivedigit number to be appended to the main bar code symbol. EAN-13 is the European version of UPC-A. The first two digits designate the country where the article is made. The next five digits show the producer of the article, followed by five digits, which identify the article number. The last digit is the checksum. EAN-13 supports a supplemental two- or fivedigit number to be appended to the main bar code symbol.
