Hardware Setup Hard Disk Connectors: IDE1, IDE2 & IDE3 (IDE 2 & IDE3 are optional) The mainboard has one 32-bit Ultra DMA 66/100 IDE controller integrated in ICH6/ICH6R, which supports PIO & Bus Master operation modes and it can connect up to two Ultra ATA drives. There is also another Ultra DMA 66/100/133 IDE controller integrated in the optional VIA 6410 IDE Raid Controller, which supports RAID 0 & RAID 1, and can connect up to four Ultra ATA 133 drives. IDE1 (blue) IDE2 (yellow) IDE3 (yellow) IDE1 (Primary IDE Connector) The first hard drive should always be connected to IDE1. IDE1 can connect a Master and a Slave drive. You must configure second hard drive to Slave mode by setting the jumper accordingly. IDE2, IDE3 (Third and Secondary IDE Connector) IDE2 & IDE3 can also connect a Slave and a Master drive. MSI Reminds You... If you install two hard disks on cable, you must configure the second drive to Slave mode by setting its jumper. Hardware Setup
Hard Disk Connectors: IDE1, IDE2 & IDE3 (IDE 2 & IDE3 are optional)
The mainboard has one 32-bit Ultra DMA 66/100 IDE controller integrated in
ICH6/ICH6R, which supports PIO & Bus Master operation modes and it can connect
up to two Ultra ATA drives.
There is also another Ultra DMA 66/100/133 IDE controller integrated in the
optional VIA 6410 IDE Raid Controller, which supports RAID 0 & RAID 1, and can
connect up to four Ultra ATA 133 drives.
IDE1
(Primary IDE Connector)
The first hard drive should always be connected to IDE1. IDE1 can connect a Master
and a Slave drive. You must configure second hard drive to Slave mode by setting the
jumper accordingly.
IDE2, IDE3
(Third and Secondary IDE Connector)
IDE2 & IDE3 can also connect a Slave and a Master drive.

If you install two hard disks on cable, you must configure the second
drive to Slave mode by setting its jumper. Refer to the hard disk
documentation supplied by hard disk vendors for jumper setting
instructions.
