Hardware Setup Memory These DIMM slots are used for installing memory modules. Since DDR3 modules are not interchangeable with DDR2 and the DDR3 standard is not backward compatible, you should always install DDR3 memory module in DDR3 slot (DIMM_DDR3_1~2), and DDR2 memory module in DDR2 slot (DIMM_DDR2_1~4). Wrong installation may cause damage of mainboard. Meanwhile, you are not able to boot up your system if you install DDR2 & DDR3 memory modules simultaneously. For more information on compatible components, please visit http://global.msi.com. tw/index.php?func=testreport DDR2 240-pin, 1.8V 64x2=128 pin 56x2=112 pin DIMM_DDR2_1~4 are for DDR2 memory module Dual-Channel: Channel A in GREEN; Channel B in ORANGE DDR3 240-pin, 1.5V 72x2=144 pin 48x2=96 pin DIMM_DDR3_1~2 are for DDR3 memory module Dual-Channel: Channel A inSKYBLUE; Channel B in PINK Dual-Channel mode Population Rule In Dual-Channel mode, the memory modules can transmit and receive data with two data bus lines simultaneously. Enabling Dual-Channel mode can enhance the system performance. Please refer to the following illustrations for population rules under Dual-Channel mode.
