CARE AND MAINTENANCE CLEANING THE KETTLE • ALWAYS turn the kettle off, unplug it, and allow it to cool down completely before cleaning. • DO NOT immerse the base or the kettle in any liquid. To clean the exterior, wipe the unit off with a soft damp, lint free cloth if needed. DO NOT use abrasive or harsh cleaning solutions. • It is advisable to remove lime deposits from the kettle at regular intervals or as needed. • The filter can be removed if necessary for cleaning by carefully pulling back on the small plastic tab at the bottom of it while lifting upwards. DECALCIFYING If the kettle turns off before the water starts boiling, it is likely that it needs to be decalcified. You can use a decalcifying solution, ensuring that all directions are followed, or a mix of water and white vinegar. Fill the kettle to about ½ full with equal parts white vinegar and water. Bring to boil, then turn off and allow the mixture to sit for about 15-20 minutes. Pour out the water, and fill to the MAX fill line with clean water. Bring that to a boil, let sit until cool, then pour out, repeating 2 or 3 times until there is no smell of vinegar. Finish by rinsing with clean water. DO NOT fill the kettle to the MAX fill mark to avoid overflow if the descaling agent causes the water to boil up. 9
