Getting Started Your phone is equipped with a battery and a charger. Other optional accessories can customize your phone for maximum performance and mobility. All the features described in this user guide are supported by your phone. For all the features to work, you must have a valid SIM card (included in the package supplied by your service provider) that also supports these features. Even if you have a fully featured SIM card, any feature not supported by the network transmitting your call will not work. This last point is especially important when you are roaming among networks. Before you attempt to use your phone, check that you have: • A valid SIM card inserted in the phone • Fully charged battery Service activation Before you can use your new NEC phone, the service must be activated by your service provider. Please contact your local service provider regarding phone activation. Voice mail messaging and text messaging Voice mail messaging and text messaging services, when available, are provided by your service provider. Before you can receive voice or text messages with your phone, you must subscribe to these service options. Contact your service provider for information on the availability and setup of these services. Phone password When your service is activated, a 4-digit PIN is programmed into the SIM. The PIN locks and unlocks your phone, and provides access to restricted phone settings. Check with your service provider for additional information on your security PIN. 19
