CHAPTER 5: WIRELESS LAN CONFIGURATION Wireless Adapter Configuration Utility NETGEAR supplies you with a wireless LAN configuration utility program to give you information on your wireless network, such as signal quality and link conditions, and to let you modify the various configurable wireless parameters. Note: Users of Windows 98 or Me must reboot after making any configuration changes in the HA501 Configuration Utility. Note: Users of Windows 98 or Me need to install the Windows Message Interface (WMI) to complete the installation of the HA501 Configuration Utility Note: Users of Windows XP will have increased configuration capability if they use the HA501 802.11a Configuration Utility instead of using Windows XP to configure the wireless network settings. The Zero Configuration feature can be disabled in the Wireless Network Connection Properties window by uncheck the "Use windows to configure my wireless network settings" default setting. Wireless Adapter Configuration Utility Installation 1. Insert the HA501 Wireless Adapter Resource CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive. From the Windows desktop, double-click the My Computer icon. Double-click the CD-ROM drive letter to look into the content of the CDROM. 2. Double-click the SETUP application icon to start the installation procedure. The InstallShield Wizard opens. Click "Next" to continue. 3. Click "Yes" in the Software License Agreement dialog box to accept the agreement. 4. InstallShield starts copying files into your system. 5. Click "Finish" to complete the installation. 15

Wireless Adapter Configuration Utility Installation
