Tutorial-Taking Pictures Step 2-Adjust Camera Settings (Optional) In auto mode , you can use the buttons and menus to control the settings listed the following table. The first time you use the camera, these settings will be set to the default values shown below. These settings are adequate for most situations, and the description in this section assumes that the defaults are used. For information on making changes to the settings listed below, refer to the page numbers in the rightmost column. Setting Default Description Control Focus mode/self timer Auto- Camera focuses automatically at disfocus tances over 30 cm (1´);self-timer off. 86-91 Flash mode Auto Flash fires automatically when lighting is poor. 92-93 Image quality NOR- Pictures compressed for a balance AUTO MAL between quality and file size that is ideal for snapshots. menu 96-97 Image size FULL Pictures are 1600 × 1200 pixels in size. At an image quality of NORMAL and an image size of FULL, about sixteen pictures can be stored on an 8 MB memory card. AUTO menu 98-99 White balance White balance adjusted for natural AUTO 100- Auto coloration under most light sources. menu 101 One shot taken each time shutter- AUTO 102- Continuous Single release button is fully pressed. menu 103 BSS OFF Best-shot selection (BSS) off.
