Taking Photographs-Exposure Exposure Warning If the limits of the exposure metering system are exceeded, one of the following indicators will be displayed in the control panel and viewfinder: Indicator Description Subject too bright. Use optional Neutral Density (ND) filter or lower sensitivity ( 46). Subject too dark. Raise sensitivity ( 46). If the flash-ready indicator ( ) blinks in the viewfinder, the flash can be used for additional lighting. The flash-ready indicator will not be displayed if Off is selected for Custom Setting 20 (Flash sign). Exposure Program The exposure program for mode P is shown in the following graph: AF 50 mm f/1.4D AF ED 180 mm f/2.8D AF-S ED 300 mm f/4D Aperture Shutter speed The maximum and minimum values for EV vary with sensitivity (ISO equivalency); the above graph assumes a sensitivity of ISO 200 equivalent. When matrix metering is used, values over 171/3 EV are reduced to 171/3 EV. 78
