sBasic Photography Battery Level and Card Capacity Before shooting, turn the camera on and check the battery level and number of exposures remaining. Battery level is shown in the monitor as follows: s Battery Number of indicator exposures remaining Monitor Description L Battery fully charged. J Battery partially discharged. H Low battery. Ready fully-charged spare battery or prepare to charge battery. Shutter release disabled. Battery exhausted; shutter release disabled. Recharge battery. Charge or exchange battery. The monitor also shows the number of exposures remaining, or in other words the number of photographs that can be taken at current settings (values over 1000 are rounded down to the nearest hundred; e.g., values between 1600 and 1699 are shown as 1.6 k). If a warning is displayed stating that there is not enough memory for additional photographs, insert another memory card or delete some photos. 27
