Best Shot Selector BSS When the "Best Shot Selector" (BSS) is on, the camera takes pictures as long as the shutter-release button is held down, to a maximum of ten. These images are then compared and the sharpest picture (the picture with highest level of detail) saved to the memory or memory card. BSS is recommended for situations in which inadvertent camera movement can produce blurred pictures, for example when: • the camera is zoomed in • lighting is poor and the flash can not be used BEST SHOT SELECTOR OFF ON Option off on Description BSS off; camera functions normally. BSS on. Flash turns off automatically and focus, exposure, and auto white balance for all photos are determined by the first picture in each series. The Shooting Menu Notes on BSS BSS may not produce the desired results with a moving subject or if you change the composition while the shutter-release button is pressed all the way down. "Continuous" and BSS CONTINUOUS is automatically set to Single when BSS is on. Choosing another option for CONTINUOUS cancels BSS. The Self-Timer BSS will not take effect when the self-timer is on, even if On is selected in the BEST SHOT SELECTOR menu. BSS When BSS is on, a BSS icon appears in the monitor. 19 69
