Smart Portrait Mode (Capturing Images of Smiling Faces) When the camera detects a smiling face, you can take an image automatically without pressing the shutter-release button (smile timer). You can use the skin softening option to smooth the skin tones of human faces. Enter shooting mode M A (shooting mode) button M F Smart portrait mode M k button 1 Frame the image. • Point the camera at a human face. See "Using Face Detection" (A73) for more information. 2 Without pressing the shutter-release button, wait for the subject to smile. • If the camera detects that the face framed by the double border is smiling, the shutter is automatically released. See "Smile timer" (A69) for more information. • After the camera releases the shutter, it will continue to detect faces and smiles, and will release the shutter again if it detects a smiling face. 3 End shooting. • Any one of the following operations can be used to cancel smile detection and stop shooting. - Set Smile timer (A69) to Off. - Press the A button and select a different shooting mode. - Turn the camera off. Shooting Features B Notes About Smart Portrait Mode • Digital zoom cannot be used. • Under some shooting conditions, the camera may be unable to detect faces or detect smiles. • See "Notes About Face Detection" (A74) for more information. 53
