USING THE PRINTER WITH A MACINTOSH To use the printer in a Mac environment, run the installer program to copy the PPD (PostScript Printer Description) files to your System Folder. > NOTE: If this printer is connected to the computer via a cross-over cable, turn on the Mac before turning on this printer. If not, the printer cannot be recognised as a network printer. PPD files The PPD files for Macintosh are the files which a Mac refers to when using its LaserWriter printer driver for printing. OKI PPD Utility The OKI PPD Utility is used to register account numbers and passwords when the Auditing Mode or the Job Retention Function With Password is used.This utility is also used to change the registered account numbers and passwords. Display fonts The CD-ROM contains display fonts for the Mac. Install these as required. Display fonts Minimum system requirements Computer Apple Macintosh series Apple Power Macintosh series Operating system Mac OS 8.51 to 9.x Printer driver LaserWriter 8 version 8.4.1 or later. For other conditions such as CPU and RAM capacity, the core requirements of the operating system must be satisfied. Ensure that LaserWriter 8 has been installed in the Mac's [System] folder. If not, install it from the CD-ROM supplied with your computer. Installing the utilities The screens in the Mac OS 9.0 environment are used below as examples. The display varies with the operating system and printer driver versions. 1. Turn on the computer . 2. Insert the supplied Drivers and Manuals CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive. An icon will appear on the desktop. 3. Close all other applications and doubleclick the icon on the desktop. The files contained in the CD-ROM will be displayed. 4. Double-click the [Installer] icon. The installer screen will appear. 5. Please see the Readme file on the CD-ROM for the latest information on installing the software. 6. Click [Install] to start the software installation. Once the installer has finished, restart your computer. > When uninstalling the PPD files from your computer, select [Custom Remove] in the [Installation type] selection window, select the features to be removed, and click the [Remove] button. Turn on the computer .
2.
