Using a new card • If you use a non-Olympus card or a card used for another application, such as for a computer, the message [CARD ERROR] is displayed. To use this card with this camera, use the [FORMAT] function to format the card. g "MEMORY FORMAT (FORMAT) Formatting the internal memory or card" (P. 33) Getting to know your camera better Lamp indicators This camera uses several lamps to indicate the camera status. Lamp Status Self-timer lamp The lamp lights for approximately 10 seconds, blinks for approximately 2 seconds, and then the picture is taken. K Lit: Shooting mode Blinking: An image or movie is being recorded or downloaded (when connected to a computer). q Lit: Playback mode Blinking: Reading images Green lamp of the monitor Lit: The focus and exposure are locked. Blinking: The focus and exposure are not locked. • Release your finger from the shutter button, re-position the AF target mark on the subject and press the shutter button halfway again. • NEVER do any of the following while K and q are blinking. Doing so may prevent the image data from being saved, and may even render the internal memory or card unusable. • Opening the battery compartment/card cover • Removing the battery. • Connecting or disconnecting the AC adapter. Extending the useful life of the battery • Performing any of the following operations when not actually taking pictures can deplete the battery power. • Repeatedly pressing the shutter button halfway • Repeatedly using the zoom • To minimize the battery consumption, set [POWER SAVE] to [ON] and turn off the camera whenever it is not in use. g "POWER SAVE Setting the camera to power save mode" (P. 37) Functions that cannot be selected from menus • Some items may not be selectable from the menus when using the arrow pad. • Items that cannot be set with the current shooting mode • Items that cannot be set because of an item that has already been set: [%], "flash", etc. • When attempting to edit pictures that cannot be edited, such as those taken by other cameras. • Some functions cannot be used when there is no card in the camera.
