Focus lock k If correct focus cannot be obtained The camera's auto focus may not be able to focus on the subject in situations such as when the subject is not in the center of the frame. If this happens, the easiest solution is to use focus lock. Use this when composing the subject outside of the AF targets or when the subject is difficult to focus on. 1 Adjust the AF target with the subject to be focused and press the shutter button halfway until the AF confirmation mark lights up. • The focus is locked. The AF confirmation mark and the AF target in focus light up in the viewfinder. • If the AF confirmation mark blinks, press the shutter button halfway again. • While the shutter button is being pressed, the super control panel disappears. AF target Focusing and shooting functions 2 While pressing the shutter button halfway, move to the desired composition and press the button all the way. • The card access lamp blinks while the picture is being stored on the card. AF confirmation mark If the subject has lower contrast than its surroundings If the contrast of the subject is weak, such as when the lighting is insufficient or the subject cannot be seen clearly because of fog, the focus may not be achieved.
