Connecting the A-1VL-Continued Connecting a Power Amplifier You can use the A-1VL as a preamplifier by connecting the A-1VL to a power amplifier. When you use the A-1VL as a preamplifer, connect the main in terminals on the power amplifier to the PREOUT terminals on the A-1VL. PREOUT L R LINE IN L R Note: The signal from the PREOUT terminal will be output whether the DIRECT function is enabled or not. Connecting a Preamp You can use the A-1VL as a power amplifier by connecting the A-1VL to a preamplifier. When you use the A-1VL as a power amplifier, connect the pre out terminals on the preamplifier to the MAIN IN terminals on the A-1VL. You can enjoy surround sound playback by connecting front left and right speakers to the A-1VL and connecting center and surround speakers to the preamplifier. If you have a powered subwoofer, connect it to the preamplifier's PRE OUT. (page 13) Connecting the Power Cord Notes: • Before connecting the power cord, connect all of your speakers and audio components. • Turning on the A-1VL may cause a momentary power surge that might interfere with other electrical equipment on the same circuit. If this is a problem, plug the A-1VL into a different circuit. • Do not use a power cord other than the one supplied with the A-1VL. The supplied power cord is designed exclusively for use with the A-1VL and should not be used with any other equipment. • Never disconnect the power cord from the A-1VL while the other end is still plugged into a wall outlet. Doing so may cause an electric shock. Always disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet first, and then the A-1VL. 1. Connect the supplied power cord to the A-1VL's AC INLET. 2.
