In this example, FM has been selected. Band Frequency Setting the AM Tuning Interval (Worldwide model only) If you're using the Worldwide model (i.e., your TX-SR502/TX-SR502E has a VOLTAGE SELECTOR on the rear panel), you need to set the AM tuning interval for compatibility with AM broadcasts in your particular country. The initial setting is 9 kHz. North America: 10 kHz Other countries: 9 kHz TUNER To set the AM tuning interval, while holding down the [TUNER] button, press the [MEMORY] but- ton. MEMORY TUNING MODE CLEAR Note: All presets will be deleted when you change the AM tuning interval. 36 Tuning into Radio Stations ■ Auto Tuning Mode 1 MEMORY TUNING MODE CLEAR Press the [TUNING MODE] button so that the AUTO indicator appears on the display. 2 TUNING Press the TUNING Up or Down [ ]/[ ] button. Searching stops when a station is found. When tuned into an FM station, the TUNED and FM STEREO indicators appear on the display, as shown. When tuned into an AM station, the TUNED indicator appears. TUNED AUTO FM STEREO Using RDS (European model only) When tuned into an RDS (Radio Data System) station that's broadcasting PS (Program Service Name) information, the RDS indicator appears, and the name of the station appears on the display. Only European models support RDS, and only in areas where RDS is used. ■ Manual Tuning Mode 1 MEMORY TUNING MODE CLEAR Press the [TUNING MODE] button so that the AUTO indicator disappears from the display. 2 TUNING Press and hold the TUNING Up or Down [ ]/[ ] button. The frequency stops changing when you release the button. Press the buttons repeatedly to change the frequency one step at a time. The American model changes FM frequency in 0.1 MHz steps, 10 kHz steps for AM. For other models it's 0.05 MHz steps for FM and 9 kHz steps for AM. In Manual Tuning mode, FM stations will be in mono. Switch back to Auto Tuning mode for stereo. Tuning into weak FM stations If the signal from a stereo FM station is weak, it may be impossible to get good reception. In this case, switch to Manual Tuning mode and listen to the station in mono.

With the built-in tuner you can enjoy AM and FM radio
stations. You can store your favorite stations as presets
for quick selection.
Setting the AM Tuning Interval
(Worldwide model only)
If you’re using the Worldwide model (i.e., your
TX-SR502/TX-SR502E has a VOLTAGE SELECTOR
on the rear panel), you need to set the AM tuning interval
for compatibility with AM broadcasts in your particular
country. The initial setting is 9 kHz.
North America: 10 kHz
Other countries: 9 kHz
Note:
All presets will be deleted when you change the AM tun-
ing interval.
Auto Tuning Mode
When tuned into an FM station, the TUNED and FM
STEREO indicators appear on the display, as shown.
When tuned into an AM station, the TUNED indicator
appears.
Using RDS (European model only)
When tuned into an RDS (Radio Data System) station
that’s broadcasting PS (Program Service Name) infor-
mation, the RDS indicator appears, and the name of the
station appears on the display. Only European models
support RDS, and only in areas where RDS is used.
Manual Tuning Mode
The American model changes FM frequency in 0.1 MHz
steps, 10 kHz steps for AM. For other models it’s
0.05 MHz steps for FM and 9 kHz steps for AM.
In Manual Tuning mode, FM stations will be in mono.
Switch back to Auto Tuning mode for stereo.
Tuning into weak FM stations
If the signal from a stereo FM station is weak, it may be
impossible to get good reception. In this case, switch to
Manual Tuning mode and listen to the station in mono.
