TRANSMIT ERROR L A transmission error occurred. Try again. L If you send a fax overseas, try the following: - Use the overseas transmission mode (feature #23 on page 61). - Add 2 pauses at the end of the telephone number or dial manually. UNIT OVERHEATED L The unit is too hot. Let the unit cool down. 9.2.2 Handset Directory full L There is no space to store new items in navigator directory. Erase unnecessary items (page 35). No link to base Place on cradle and try again. L The handset has lost communication with the base unit. Walk closer to the base unit, and try again. L Place the handset on the base unit and try again. L The power cord is disconnected. Plug in the power cord. L Raise the base unit antenna Not available L {e}, {v}, {FLASH}, {CALL WAIT/PLAYBACK}, {CLEAR}, {HOLD} or {INTERCOM} was pressed while the base unit was in use. Please lift up and try again. L A button was pressed while the handset was on the base unit. Lift the handset and press the button again. 9. Help Save error L While programming, the handset has lost communication with the base unit. Move closer to the base unit. Frequently Asked Questions 9.3 When a function does not work, check here 9.3.1 Initial settings I cannot hear a dial tone. L If you used a splitter to connect the unit, remove the splitter and connect the unit to the wall jack directly. If the unit operates properly, check the splitter. L Disconnect the unit from the telephone line and connect the line to a known working telephone. If the working telephone operates properly, contact our service personnel to have the unit repaired. If the working telephone does not operate properly, contact your telephone company. L The power cord or telephone line cord is not connected. Check the connections. L If you connected the fax machine through a computer modem, connect the fax machine directly to a telephone line jack. I cannot make calls. L The dialing mode setting is wrong. Change the setting (feature #13 on page 61). The unit does not ring. L The ringer volume is turned OFF. Adjust it (page 25, 26). L The ring setting in TAM/FAX mode (feature #06) is set to "RINGER OFF". Change to another ring setting (page 61). 9.3.2 General The unit displays "CHECK PAPER" though the paper is inserted.
