Getting Started First-time Operation Preparation A Check and identify the supplied accessories. A Turn the computer over. B Slide the battery pack in parallel with the arrow direction. C Attach the battery pack so that the left and right projections (A) on the battery A pack match the dents (B) of the computer. To remove the battery pack While sliding the left and right latches (C) to the unlocked position , push out the battery pack in parallel with the computer. CAUTION z Make sure the battery pack is securely locked. If not, the battery pack may fall when you carry the computer. z Do not touch the terminals of the battery pack and the computer. Doing so can make the terminals dirty or damaged, and may cause malfunction of the battery pack and the computer. NOTE z Note that the computer consumes electricity even when the computer power is off. If the battery pack is fully charged, the battery will fully discharge in the fol- lowing period of time: C • In sleep: Approx. 7 days*1 (Approx: 5 days*1 with Wake Up from wired LAN function activated) If the battery is exhausted while the computer is in sleep mode, all unsaved data will be lost. • In hibernation: Approx. 40 days*1 (Approx. 10 days*1 with Wake Up from wired LAN function activated) • When power is off: Approx. 40 days*1 (Approx. 10 days*1 with Wake Up from wired LAN function activated) *1 While the USB port continuous charging function is not used z When the DC plug is not connected to the computer, disconnect the AC cord from your AC wall outlet. Power is consumed simply by having the AC adaptor plugged into an electrical outlet. 2 A 2 Open the display. Hold the side of the computer with either of your hands and then hold and lift the (A) part to open the display. CAUTION z Do not open the display wider than necessary (180° or more), and do not apply excessive pressure to the LCD. Do not open or close the display holding the edge of the LCD segment. 12
