Use a long, wide zigzag stitch and sew edge with the needle taking one stitch into the fabric and the other over its edge. You moy overcast edges after fabric is cut and before the pieces are loined. Worn bed sheets may be mended this way. Cut out worn center strip. Place the selvaged edges of the remaining pieces of sheet under the sewing foot so that the abutted edges are centered under the needle. Join them with close, wide zigzag stitches.
