I 1 II I C7c6te 4 5hcctinfy 1. Machine Skips Stitches Cause: Needle incorrectly inserted. Wrong needle. Needle bent. Machine threaded improperly. Needle too fine or too thick for the thread. Remedy: Push needle up as far as it will go and be sure that the long groove faces toward you, and flat side of shank away from you. Choose the correct needle from chart on page 14. (For ordinary sewing, use System 130R needles.) Insert new needle. Check and correct threading as instructed on pages 16 and 17. Use correct needle and thread (see chart on page 14). 2. Needle Thread Breaks Cause: The above mentioned may cause thread breakage. Thread tension too tight. Poor, knotty or rotten thread used. Hook raceway is jammed with thread or needs oiling. Burrs or sharp edges on needle plate slot. Remedy: See remedies listed under 1. above. Adlust tensions as instructed. Use good quality threads only. Clean and oil hook raceway. Polish needle plate slot with fine emery cloth. 27
