838 954 Overcasting Edges Machine Setting: A=2 to 4; B= 4 Overcasting prevents frayed edges. Use a long wide zigzag stitch and sew edge with the needle taking one stitch into the fabric and the other over its edge (normal tension setting). You may overcast edges after fabric is cut and before the pieces are joined. DR 081 838 954 Butt Seaming Machine Setting: A=3 or 4; B= 4 Two similar pieces of fabric which do nat ravel easily may be butted together and joined with zigzag stitches. Worn bed sheets may be mended this way. Cut out worn center strip. Place the selvaged edges of the remainIng pieces of sheet under the sewing foot so that the abutted edges are centered under the needle, Join them with close, wide zigzag stitches to obtain a neat and flat seam.
