CONTROLS 7. Ignition Switch The ignition key is placed on the driver's panel and is used to start and stop the engine. IMPORTANT INFORMATION Do not run the starter for more than five seconds each time. If the engine does not start, wait about 10 seconds before retrying. 8. Choke Control The choke mode is used for cold starts in order to provide the engine with a richer fuel mixture. For cold starts the control should be pulled out. Throttle Control The throttle control regulates the engine speed and thereby the rate of rotation of the blades, assuming the blade switch is pulled out, see Engaging the Mower Deck. In order to increase or decrease the engine speed, the control is moved. Avoid idling the engine for long periods, as there is a risk of fouling the spark plug.
