Appears when a new multimedia message has been received. Appears when the IrDA port is active. For details, see "Infrared Activation" on page 98. Backlight A backlight illuminates the display and the keypad. When you press any key or slide open the phone, the backlight comes on. It goes off when no keys are pressed within a given period of time, depending on the setting in the Backlight menu. The display turns off after one minute to conserve battery power.
