Listening to a Cassette Tape (TAPE 1 or TAPE 2) Before playback: q For playback, use normal or low-noise tapes for the best sound. (Metal or CrO2 tapes are not recommended.) q Do not use C-120 tapes or poor-quality tapes, as they may cause malfunctions. q Before loading a tape into the cassette compartment, tighten the slack with a pen or pencil. Playback is possible in TAPE 1 compartment as well as in TAPE 2. 1 Press the ON/STAND-BY button to turn the power on. 2 Open the cassette door by pushing the area marked "7 PUSH EJECT". TAPE 1 TAPE 2 4 Press the TAPE (1 V 2) button to select the cassette you want to listen to. 5 Press the 0/R button to start playback. When playback is performed using the remote control, press the TAPE 1 or TAPE 2 0 button. To stop playback: Press the s (TAPE s) button. Fast forward/rewind: (TAPE 2 only) 1. Press the s (TAPE s) button, then press the TAPE (1 V 2) button to select TAPE 2. 2. To advance the tape, press the 2 / 4 button. To rewind it, press the 3 / 5 button. Caution: q To remove the cassette, press the s (TAPE s) button, and then open the compart- ment. q Before changing from one tape operation to another, press the s (TAPE s) button. q If a power failure occurs during tape operation, the tape head will remain engaged with the tape and the cassette door will not open.
